Dawn of Legaia - T Minus 50-Day Update

50 days is not a long time. Take it from somebody that's been working on the debut installment of a sci fi novel series since July of 2011. Which, by the way, I am both proud and relieved to announce, that this past weekend, I completed the final draft of. I made a big, dessert-fueled push on Saturday night, wrapped things up and spell checked 83,000+ words on Sunday morning, and we're done. Kinda hard to believe that it's done, but I'm quick to remind myself a rest period must be brief, because there's still so much to do concerning Dawn of Legaia, including a wicked-awesome sequel! Booya! That said, here's the rest of the scoop. The cover art proofs should be coming in anyday now, and will

Movie Review: Arrival

Science fiction movie fans have a pair of films to choose from this week. While I'm hoping to watch Doctor Strange in IMAX 3D in a couple days, I Have seen Arrival, and I'd like to share my thoughts on it with you. Arrival's trailers are engaging, and the internet is blazing with positive feedback for this film. Although I can only offer you one man's take on this movie, there's a chance it will help at least some of you have a better understanding of what to expect from this film, either before seeing it or when debating whether or not to see it. As a sci fi omnivore with a voracious appetite, I was let down by this film, and I'm going to elaborite a bit on why. Although deep and intellectu

The State of Sci Fi: 11/7/16

Dr. Strange! $325M internationally after 13 days, not too shabbeh! Definitely looking forward to seeing it myself sometime this week. The box office has been quiet these past couple months, and I think that's left moviegoers longing for a decent flick to watch. A new Mass Effect: Andromeda trailer dropped today. It was a cinematic trailer, but awesome none the less. Especially enjoyed the audio. Definitely check that out if you haven't already. That game is going to look beyond good in 4K! Done, and, done. Take my money... We get a new Star Wars movie in 5 weeks? We get a new Star Wars movie in 5 weeks! Oh, sweet deliciousness. L.A.'s newest comic convention, The Comic Excitement Convention

Another Westworld Winner

Things are really starting to get interesting with Westworld! After watching Episode 5, I thought it was my new favorite, but I think Episode 6 may have just taken that crown. We're starting to connect with the characters, to care for them a bit more, now that we've been seeing them for 6 weeks. And it's cool to be able to join them on their path to enlightment. Androids having epiphanies typically makes for good fun. The only downside to all of this is that I have to wait a whole week till I can get more! -A.C.H. Image: HBO

For The Love of Science Fiction

After six straight days of packing, moving, and unpacking, I have arrived. My living room looks fabulous. Every other room in my apartment looks like a Battalion of Abrams Tanks rolled through them. It is what it is, lol. I'm only one person, and my better half, who has just been introduced to the concept of brutal commutes at the tender age of 29, comes home from work, throws on her monkey onzie, and demands red wine. That, also, is what it is. In just a few days, however, this place will truly look and feel like home. Now, onto the bad news. (Which I actually think is good news, coincidentally enough.) I've postponed the release of my debut sci fi novel, "Dawn of Legaia" till January 11th
