Event Review: Stan Lee's Los Angeles Comic Con 2017

L.A. Comic Con's 7th installment is a worthwhile pop culture extravaganza! Although I hadn't been to this event (the L.A. pop culture convention formerly kown as Stan Lee's Comikaze) since 2013, I Had been tracking its progress and reading about its growth. And when the event was renamed in conjunction with a ribbon cutting ceremony featuring L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti, I knew only good things were to come. My original plan was to work L.A. Comic Con this year, but when wedding planning took over my mind, body, and soul (not to mention every square inch of my wallet...) I had to take a rain check on this con till next year. So when my buddy Tim offered me a VIP Pass just a few days ago, I was

Show Review: Star Trek: Discovery

Star Trek's newest series injects new spices into an old, familiar, and delicious recipe, striking a craveable balance among Trekkies and casual viewers alike. I was browsing a few days ago when a Star Trek Discovery ad popped up. (Never underestimate the power of a relevant, well-timed advertisement!) I had been debating subscribing to CBS All Access for weeks, and after seeing an offer for a 7-day free trial, I decided to go for it. Of course, within moments of gaining access, I loaded up Star Trek Discovery's debut episode, and fired away. And I'm so glad that I did. I know a lot of people with varying passions for sci-fi are on the fence about this show. I have seen the light

Movie Review: Blade Runner 2049

Sci-fi fans such as myself have a lot to say about Blade Runner 2049, as some of us have been waiting for this film for many months. Survey Says? It's a winner! Ask around, the general consensus is the same; varying degrees of awesome. Hachem's take? 8.5/10. Some will say slightly higher, some will say slightly lower, but it seems as though the majority of movie-goers are a fan of this movie. And therefore, a thank you is in order. Thank You to the entire cast and production team behind Blade Runner 2049 for not royally fucking up one of our beloved sci-fi classics. The film's tone oozes Blade Runner, and even if you weren't a fan of some of the actual storyline, the scent of the original ha

Movie Review: Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman's costumes and landscapes are beautifully wasted on a dry, boring main character. There's nothing wonderful about Wonder Woman, and supporting cast members can't outshine the main character so heavily! Watched Wonder Woman a few evenings ago. Originally, I was bummed that I didn't get around to catching it in theatres, but after seeing it, I regret the rental fee... The lush hills and fantastic waterfalls that surrounded the Amazonian soldiers were gorgeous, as were the Amazons themselves. Their outfits were impressive, and the fight scenes were spot on. The choreography, as well as the visuals/slow-mo fight sequences, etc. But that's about where the film's pros end. Diana's cha
