Sci Fi Firepower!

Science Fiction Weapon

There's one thing I've shied away from since I started writing The Legaia Series, and that's the use of conventional, human weaponry that fires metallic munitions.

Not because I don't like them or don't respect their place in history, but because we've all already seen a lifetime's worth of lead and brass pew-pew. For this reason, I'm a huge fan of science fiction weaponry.

Whether it's hand held or vehicular, or whether its projectiles are tangible or energy-based. Maybe it fire no projectiles at all! See how vast this aspect of genre fiction can be?

In my first story, "Dawn of Legaia", the blandest weapon is an electro-magnetic pistol that very few and select individuals get to own. For those instances when our android brethren refuse to play nice.

On the other end of the spectrum, I've incorporated some weaponry, both offensive and defensive, that's unlike anything that exists in this reality. Sci fi tales have dozens of physical elements that we can conjure up and shape to be our own, and weaponry just so happens to be one of my favorite. From its purpose, to its aesthetics.

In another blog post along these lines, we'll chat about another element of sci fi, like propulsion systems or the medicine of the future. And the best part is, the possibilities are endless!
