Kaladesh In, Dragons and Origins Out

Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim card art. One of my favorite Magic the Gathering cards in recent years.

As the Kaladesh spoilers continue to come in, I can't help but think about my home-brew, and how I can make it better using cards from the next block, which will be released 9/30/16.

I still have my eyes set on Ayli. Ideally, I would like to build either an Orzhov or Abzan deck around her that can kick some butt at the FNM level. (I only play Standard because I got back into Magic a couple years ago and Modern is too out there for me.)

A few cards I've been eyeing are Essence Extraction, instant speed spot removal and life gain in black, and Arborback Stomper, a 5/4 creature with trample and an ETB trigger of gain 5 life in green. The new Nissa looks quite lovely for my imagined build as well. I'm sure that by the time this spoiler season is over, I'll have a couple handfuls of new cards to think about as far as Ayli is concerned.

I hope I have the time this fall to hit up an FNM or two, because the demanding schedule brought on by editing my debut science fiction novel is not conducive to playing games. Gotta find a way to make it happen though, as with all things in life.
